Applications Engineering is a multifaceted and wide-ranging role that combines deep technical expertise with outstanding interpersonal skills. We help Arm's partners build real world applications based on Arm technology. Our partners scale from big semiconductor houses to small start-ups, and all of them are building new exciting products. This software role gives the possibility to be on the forefront of technological evolution as new devices are brought up.
Job Overview
This is a customer facing role focused on supporting OEMs and ODMs using our SoC platform tooling in the early phases of bringing up a device. You will guide customers in how to use certain tools (eg debug, trace, power, diagnosis, provisioning), as well as help debug hardware design issues on early prototypes and end devices. You will provide technical assistance to our partners through support case work, training material as well as contribute towards examples and small pieces of documentation. There is great potential for innovation and career progression in this role as new technologies emerge and new market areas start using this range of tools.
Responsibilities
- Provide support for our partners with tooling and software related problems on their Arm-based systems. This will mostly happen through web portal and virtual meetings, however, occasional customer travel might be needed at key customer milestone
- Test engineering deliverables and provide feedback
- Assist with replicating customer issues and advocating for fixes inside the product team
- Write blogs, knowledge articles to educate customers, as well as review technical documentation
- Create and deliver (mostly remote) customer training material
Required Skills And Experience
- Bachelor’s or higher degree qualification in Computer Engineering, Computer Science or Electrical Engineering (other fields with proven experience will also be considered)
- Extensive experience working with customers in a technical role or as a Software Development Engineer
- Proficiency in writing software using C/C++
- Deep understanding of processor architecture, and the interaction between software and hardware
- Experience using software development tools to develop code and debug low level issues
- Previous usage of embedded Linux or Android
- Effective written and verbal communication (English)
“Nice To Have” Skills And Experience
- Understanding of multi-core or multi-processor systems, as well as system interconnects
- Awareness of SoC development key stages
- Familiarity with Arm products and Arm's software ecosystem
- Experience writing user documentation
- Scripting experience
