Role Purpose
We are looking for a senior-level portfolio management expert to work within PIC's Strategic Transformation Office (STO). This role is pivotal in enabling enterprise-wide change, providing oversight, insight, and foresight across PIC's change agenda. It blends hands-on delivery leadership with portfolio-level strategic management, and requires deep expertise in PMO, Portfolio Governance, and Enterprise Transformation.
Key Responsibilities
This position is dual-faceted:
Transformation leadership - accountable for driving and embedding key elements of PIC's enterprise-wide Change Transformation across 2025-2026, and leading the ongoing continuous improvement roadmap that follows. Business-as-usual (BAU) excellence - overseeing and evolving core portfolio functions including strategic prioritisation, pipeline governance, benefits tracking, quality assurance, and insight reporting. Reporting to the Head of the Strategic Transformation Office, and working closely with the Executive Committee (ExCo) and Portfolio Steering Group (PSG), this role holds significant influence in enabling PIC to execute its strategy through effective portfolio decision-making. Knowledge, experience, skills and abilities
We are looking for a strategic PMO expert with knowledge of financial services and the regulators (mainly PRA and FCA).
Technical
- Extensive knowledge of enterprise and delivery PMO best practice.
- Applied experience in a range of enterprise portfolio management methodologies including waterfall, agile, and hybrid models of change grouped by capability.
- Experience of interpreting information and producing recommendations and strengthen decision making.
- Experience of working in change functions at a an enterprise level, as well as projects and programmes
- Experience of Service Now or other PPM tools for portfolio management, including transition to it from existing processes.
- Experience of creating and rolling out new processes, including training and comms materials
Personal
- Ability to operate at both a strategic and operational level
- Experience in developing sponsor and stakeholder relationships with the ability to persuade and influence both directly and indirectly
- Recognise patterns, trends and themes that emerge from different data sources, including their impact on the portfolio
- Pragmatic and hands on approach. Willing to get involved in writing and creating project materials
- Ability to constructively challenge colleagues, and work with them to produce solutions to issues.
