This role sits within
Supply Chain Operations (SCO) , an area of the business which supplies and delivers the logistics, materials, components, rail and road fleet that enable the maintenance and renewal of the railway.

About The Role (External)
This role sits within Fleet and Engineering.
We are Network Rails Train Driving function, as well as providing the in-house Operations and Maintenance of Network Rails’ owned rail fleets. We provide the core engineering capability to deliver capital projects and day-to-day fleet management, held accountable for doing so by the regulator. To make this happen, we provide support to our core delivery areas, enabling them to deliver on our promises. Our activities mean we must work nationally across a number of locations, and therefore our capability has to be such to deliver what the customer needs in an ever-changing landscape.
In this role, you’ll provide store keeping duties for fleet and engineering rolling stock nationwide, maintaining stock to required levels, whilst co-ordinating and distributing stock effectively. The role will be based at York, Holgate Depot. This role will become part of the inventory / Supply Chain team on site at Holgate, a team of approx. 6/7 people. Holgate site is a developing site, so there will also be other opportunities to be involved in inventory projects. There may be occasional travel to other NR sites.
Key accountabilities include:
- Report to and work under the direction of the Inventory Manager and in close collaboration with the Maintenance Manager / Supervisor and depot staff.
- Track the utilisation of stock and spares ensuring that stock is replenished in a timely fashion to maintain agreed stock levels.
- Liaise with maintenance managers on a regular basis for stock requirements or forecasted work.
- Run Daily inventory usage report.
- Carry out daily physical counts.
- Chase orders that are in arrears.
- Labelling and identifying stock with Network Rail item numbers.
- Imaging stock and uploading into FAMS (Fleet asset management assistant).
- Weighing stocked items and marking weights on items.
- Raise requisitions for consumables and pass to TO's.
- Only order spares through FAMS.
- Manage the receipt of stock in accordance of company procedures.
- Ensure all relevant paperwork electronic documentation is completed and that records are retained of all deliveries and stock movement.
- Ensure request for orders are submitted in a timely manner and actioned in time to maintain minimum stock levels.
- Maintain a high level of tidiness within the store areas.
- Promote safe working practices.
- Assist with monitoring and reporting on stores usage.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate the following criteria:
Essential
- Experience in a Stores/Logistics environment.
- Demonstrate experience in the effective management of large store or stock, preferably in a workshop environment.
- Excellent planning and organisational capabilities with the ability to work unsupervised.
- Excellent communication and motivation skills essential.
- Knowledge and experience of relevant safety legislation.
- Able to drive and hold a UK driving license.
- Computer-literate with knowledge of relevant office / stock management software.
- Understanding commercial processes and requirements.
Desirable
- Knowledge of FAMs (Fleet Asset Management Assistance).
- Experience in Railway industry.
- Personal track safety.

Salary range: £ 28,490 to £30,044 per annum, depending on skills and experience.

Drugs and Alcohol Standard:
