Job Title: Storm Overflow Technicians
Location: We are looking for candidates to fill multiple roles (10+) across our regions, within Sussex, Hants & IOW and Kent (a valid UK driving licence is required; a company van will be provided)
Contract Type: Permanent
Hours: 37 hours per week (With overtime opportunity)
Salary: Circa £35,000
Storm overflows are very provocative and not acceptable to our customers and stakeholders. We want to lead the charge in resolving the current situation. That’s where our Clean Rivers & Seas Task Force comes in, implementing pioneering and industry-leading solutions to reduce spills and reliance on overflows whilst also enhancing the environment for our communities. Currently delivering a £1.5billion programme over the next 5 years. We are now expanding the team so we can continue to work in partnership to deliver a larger programme of sustainable and innovative interventions to reduce the use of storm overflows.
As a Storm Overflow Technician, you will play a vital role in maintaining and monitoring storm overflow systems to protect our communities and environment.
Job Overview
- You will be at the front line of environmental improvements in your local community.
- Conduct field investigations within an allocated catchment; to understand the root cause of CSO activation.
- Reviewing CCTV footage and data collected by contractors to identify issues and determine practical solutions.
- Working closely with our civils separation contractor to develop efficient, cost-effective approaches to separation.
- Attending local customer drop-in events within the catchment area to engage with the public and provide project updates.
- You will help identify issues early and implement effective solutions, ensuring our infrastructure runs smoothly during adverse weather conditions.
About You
- Proactive and independent; with the ability to take initiative.
- You will have a curious mind, a positive can-do attitude and eager to learn and troubleshoot.
- Strong problem-solving skills with a practical approach.
- Practical experience in a hands-on role is advantageous.
- Able to give direction when needed, but also take instruction and work collaboratively within a team.
- Comfortable working with technical contractors and engaging with members of the public.
- Well-organised, with strong attention to detail—particularly when reviewing footage and survey data.
