As part of our unique Shared Finance Service with Sutton, you’ll have exposure to a diverse and stimulating range of projects - such as Kingston’s largest ever housing regeneration and the world-leading London Cancer Hub in Sutton. Both councils are at the forefront of responding to the climate emergency and investing in technologies that build a better, more inclusive borough for the next generation.

The Role

As a Strategic Finance Business Partner, you’ll work as a trusted adviser to senior leaders - delivering high quality strategic advice and insight that shapes decisions and drives robust financial management. Your focus will be on adding value, supporting transformation, and managing financial risk in alignment with council priorities.

• Residents & Communities and Corporate Services Directorates
• Housing and Chief Executive’s Office

Key Accountabilities:

• Provide expert strategic finance advice, analysis, and insight to support decision making.
• Partner with directorate or corporate leads, ensuring strong financial management and risk control.
• Support medium-term financial planning, scenario analysis and development of budget strategies.
• Lead, coach and inspire a small team, supporting professional growth and a high-performing culture.
• Build relationships with internal and external stakeholders, championing the values of our shared finance service.
• Play an active role in developing a forward-looking finance function that is creative, data-driven, and influential.

About You

• We’re looking for finance professionals who thrive in a collaborative environment and are motivated by the challenge of supporting two ambitious, values-led boroughs. You’ll bring:
• A relevant professional qualification (e.g. CIPFA, CIMA, ACA, ACCA) or equivalent experience.
• Experience delivering finance business partnering, strategic advice and insight in a complex organisation.
• Excellent analytical and communication skills, with the ability to present complex information in a clear, compelling way.
• Proven ability to coach, mentor and motivate others.
• A flexible, commercial, and innovative mindset.
