We are looking for an experienced Stress Engineers to support the Preliminary Design Review phase for the design and development of wing, empennage, and boom structures on a prototype aircraft.
The role involves advanced structural analysis of both metallic and composite components, with a key focus on delivering optimized, certifiable designs in line with program timelines.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform detailed stress analysis of aerostructure components using Finite Element Analysis and classical hand calculation methods.
- Support all stress-related engineering activities up to and through the PDR phase for wing, empennage, and boom structures.
- Analyze and validate both composite and metallic structures, ensuring designs meet strength, durability, and certification requirements.
- Provide technical checking or approval of stress documentation and analysis reports—prior checker or approver delegation is advantageous.
- Use Hypersizer and HyperX for composite structural analysis and design optimization
- Participate in design reviews and help guide the detailed development and maturation of concepts into certifiable designs.
- Collaborate with design, manufacturing, and materials teams to ensure practical, efficient, and robust structural solutions.
- Support the preparation of stress reports, justification documents, and technical files required for certification and production.
- Ensure work package execution aligns with customer requirements, technical standards, and project schedules.
- Communicate effectively across engineering disciplines, suppliers, and customers.
Key Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of experience in structural analysis of aerospace components.
- Strong proficiency in both metallic and composite stress analysis.
- Deep knowledge of aerospace materials, industry standards, and certification practices.
- High-level expertise in classical stress methods and FEA tools.
- Mandatory experience using Hypersizer and/or HyperX for composite analysis.
- Experience working through early-stage design gates
- Prior authority as an approver or checker of stress deliverables is a strong plus.
- Strong technical documentation and communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment.
