We are seeking a highly motivated Study/Trial Manager to join our team in the Department of Public Health and Primary Care. This position is part of CanRisk, an exciting programme of work focusing on the development of user-friendly cancer risk prediction tools (see www.CanRisk.org) for breast, ovarian and prostate cancer funded by Cancer Research UK.
The post-holder will lead the team responsible for co-ordinating two large clinical studies within the CanRisk programme. The first is a feasibility study in primary care that looks to offer breast cancer risk assessments to women in the general population, via their GP. The second is a randomised controlled trial in clinical genetics services which looks to trial a new clinical pathway which gives an up-front comprehensive risk assessment.
The post holder will lead the co-ordination of the two research studies within the CanRisk team, to ensure the studies run smoothly and effectively. On a day-to-day basis, the role will include managing the ethics approvals and associated governance of the two studies, actively managing the recruitment of sites/patients, and ensuring data monitoring and entry has been conducted in line with standard operating procedures.
Essential skills needed to perform this role include study/trial coordination experience, strong verbal and written communication skills and an ability to anticipate problems and proactively find solutions. The successful applicant will have a degree in an appropriate discipline or have equivalent qualifications or equivalent experience. The post holder will also line manage the Study/Trial Co-ordinator. A research passport with the Cambridge University Hospitals will be applied for once the post-holder has commenced in the post.
The funding for this post is available until 31 August 2026. This role would be an excellent secondment opportunity for individuals looking to broaden their skills and experience in study/trial management.
This position is full time but we also welcome part-time applications for no less than 80% FTE per week.
