Full time: 35 hours per week

Fixed Term: 12 months contract

The Opportunity

The Edinburgh College of Art (ECA), part of the University of Edinburgh, is looking for a dedicated and detail-oriented Subject Area Administrator to join our department. This full-time, 12-month fixed term position plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth day-to-day operations of the School of Design Subject Area by providing high-level administrative support, including HR, finance, event coordination, and research seminar management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide proactive administrative support to the Head of Subject Area in managing academic staff workloads and financial resource planning.
  • Assist with the coordination of research seminars, field trips, and student conferences.
  • Handle financial tasks such as budget monitoring, processing payments, and managing staff requisitions.
  • Liaise with HR on recruitment processes, contract renewals, and compliance checks.
  • Serve as a welcoming point of contact for staff and students, addressing queries and ensuring a positive work environment.

  • Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to handle competing demands.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, capable of building effective relationships across the School and University.
  • A high degree of initiative and independence in managing tasks, combined with the ability to work closely with academic colleagues.
