About The Job
We have a fantastic opportunity for a suitable candidate to take on a Subject Manager’s post within the Assessment Development and Delivery (ADD) team.
The post-holder will support the assessment objectives for courses available in Group 3 (Individuals and Societies) DP portfolio, with specific focus on delivering digital assessment. The post holder will also support assessment activities related specifically to Diploma Programme Economics and Business Management. As such, the role holder will be expected to liaise between Group 3 Subject Managers and the Digital Assessment Development team. This is an exciting opportunity to take part in a new project launch and help shape processes for this initiative.
The successful applicant will be required to ensure the reliability, accuracy and fairness of assessment in their portfolio space. They will manage the international examiner teams responsible for all assessment related activities for these teams from paper creation, through standardisation/up till grade awarding and post-results management. The job scope includes overseeing the digitalisation of already produced summative material across whole Group 3; testing this digital platform; producing protocols and training materials for future use.
The post holder will also work closely with other departments of IB particularly those within Education directorate and will occasionally represent IB at international conferences and events.
Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
For designated subjects:
- Demonstrate leadership of a team of examiners and assessment content developers
- Lead authoring teams to produce high quality assessments in compliance with departmental guidelines
- Implement effective standardization processes and monitor the marking of assessment material
- Analyse assessment statistics to draw conclusion on assessment validity and reliability
- Close cooperation with all teams ensuring smooth transition to digital platform
- Support other designated digital teams for Group 3 for optimal candidate user experience
- Establish standard approaches to digital design by use across the group
- Support transition to digital assessment by testing software and quality assuring digital exams
- Manage end-to-end lifecycle of all assessments from creation through administration; including training examiners and authors to use this digital platform
- Liaise between Group 3 colleagues on development activities standardization grade award processes for digital exams
- Plan and manage expenses related designated tasks/subjects as appropriate
- Communicate with internal external stakeholders any relevant information or advice on assessment related matters (for designated subjects) in variety of bespoke ways
- Represent assessment and digital perspectives in curriculum review
- Manage administrative tasks related to allocated portfolio subject(s)
Qualifications
About You
Essential
- A qualification at degree level, relevant to the subject manager’s designated subject(s)
- Significant and relevant post-qualification experience in educational assessment, teaching or research
- Excellent organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail and accuracy
- The ability to analyze and draw conclusions from complex data
- Excellent spoken and written skills in English (the working language of the IB Assessment Centre)
- The ability to lead and work within a team and foster a collaborative environment
- Competence using office software (e.g. Microsoft Office, Google Suite tools)
- Experience of leading projects that have delivered successful outcomes involving working with any sized digital media platforms or the ability to demonstrate the capacity for this type of work
- The ability to present complex information clearly to audiences and purpose
- An understanding of the confidential nature of assessment and ensuring the desired security level is maintained. Willingness to be available when required (with advanced notice) outside of the standard once a week arrangement

Flexibility to work weekends during peak examinations sessions (May/June, November/December) and occasionally at unsociable hours. We run flexi hours policy to compensate for any overtime.
