Substations Engineering Manager - HV

Baker Hicks have grown rapidly in the Transmission & Distribution sector over the last 12 years and have been successful in winning a number of major projects within the UK.

As the demand to deliver exceptional engineering design from our clients continues to grow, an opportunity has arisen for a new management team member responsible for managing the Substations Design team under the High Voltage discipline.

Are you a seasoned electrical engineer with a passion for HV substation design, team empowerment, and collaborative growth? At BakerHicks, you’ll guide a national team, champion design excellence, contribute to major UK infrastructure projects, and help shape the future of power delivery.

Key Deliverables

• Manage a team of Substation Design Engineers & CAD technicians
• Collaborate with other Sectors and Disciplines within BakerHicks
• Support the Director of Power in tendering & Business Development
• Drive a number of projects as the HV Substations discipline lead

About You

• Minimum BEng/Bsc in Electrical Engineering (preferably a Master’s degree)
• Extensive experience in Substation design
• CEng status is seen as beneficial, however not essential
• You will have good understanding of British and European Standards and technical specifications from utility providers
• Strong technical knowledge of HV disciplines and UK standards
