The Role
Joining Moderna offers the unique opportunity to be part of a pioneering team that's revolutionizing medicine through mRNA technology with a diverse pipeline of development programs across various diseases. In this role, you will work closely with our Bioanalytical Sciences team and strategic partners to support initiatives that advance our mission of delivering transformative medicines to patients. Moderna's commitment to pushing the technological frontier of mRNA medicines ensures a challenging and rewarding internship experience, offering hands-on exposure in a dynamic and innovative environment while contributing to impactful global health initiatives.
This internship is expected to be 8-10 weeks in duration (40 hrs/week), starting in late June 2025. The internship will be located in Harwell, Oxfordshire with an expectation of working at least 70% in-office.
Here’s What You’ll Do
- Under the supervision of the Bioanalytical Sciences team, you will:
- Learn and apply fundamental bioanalytical laboratory techniques under the guidance of experienced scientists.
- Support bioanalytical method development and optimization by assisting in relevant projects, depending on level of prior experience.
- Assist with sample preparation, instrument setup, and data interpretation for bioanalytical assays.
- Participate in team discussions and meetings to share progress and insights.
- Follow established protocols and safety procedures in a regulated lab environment.
- Attend relevant meetings and contribute to discussions to gain insight into the role of Bioanalytical Science professionals in a biotech setting.
- Present project learnings and findings to peers and mentors at the conclusion of the internship.
Here’s What You’ll Need (Minimum Qualifications)
- Current enrollment in or recent completion of a Bachelor’s or Master’s program in Chemical Engineering, Biochemical Engineering, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biomedical Engineering, Biotechnology or a related field. Candidates enrolled in degree programs in other disciplines will also be considered if they have relevant experience.

- Strong fundamental scientific and engineering skills for the evaluation of experimental data.
- Baseline laboratory skills applicable to analytical methods (e.g., extraction, sample preparation, pipetting).
- Strong ability to work both independently and within a team setting.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple tasks and projects.
- Interest in learning about bioanalytical sciences in a fast-paced biotech environment.
- A proactive approach and willingness to learn in a dynamic environment.
