Job Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen at the Bristol Centre for Enablement (BCE), within the NMSK (Neurological and MusculoSkeletal Sciences) Division.
We are looking for an experienced, enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our Management Team as a Support Manager to deliver a high quality, patient focused service. The role is full time (37.5 hours) on a 12 month fixed term basis.
There are 6 Services within BCE; Wheelchair and Special Seating, Wheelchair Repairs & Stores, Orthotics, Prosthetics, Electronic Assistive Technology (EAT) and AAC WEST.
The successful applicant must be able to demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills. They will have previous line management experience and good knowledge of Referral to Treatment (RTT) and patient pathways.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will be a key member of the Bristol Centre for Enablement Management Team and will contribute to continual improvement of services.
The Role Will
- Drive delivery of high-quality standardised services
- Manage the BCE administrative teams
- Have a robust understanding of outpatient/clinic management
- Build/maintain effective relationships across BCE and wider NBT services
- Carry out performance reporting and meetings with the specialty/division managers
- Look to continually improve performance against outpatient metrics
- Have sound knowledge and understanding of the BNSSG Patient Access Policy for Elective/Planned Care, providing direction where necessary
- Participate in improving processes and procedures and creation of service level agreements and best practice guideline
- Maintain the Quality Management System (QMS) for Bristol Centre for Enablement (BCE) services

This post is based at one of our offsite locations; the Bristol Centre for Enablement (BCE). BCE is a regional enablement centre based at Patchway who provide a range of specialist disability equipment for patients across the South West.

Education/Training/Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Educated to degree level or working towards, with equivalent level of working experience/knowledge
- Minimum five GCSE/O’level qualifications or equivalent, to include English Language and/or Mathematics/Accounting
Desirable criteria
- Recent exposure to a relevant management or leadership development programme
Work Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience of having worked in the NHS or other patient focused environment, and to have worked as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Relevant leadership and management experience of clinical services, with minimum 2 years in an operational management role
- Knowledge of patient pathways and waiting lists, with solid understanding of RTT and the Patient Access Policy. Knowledge of the Trust’s key targets and objectives
- Working knowledge of PAS systems (eg, Cerner, Lorenzo, CareFlow) and/or other NHS systems such as ERS, ICE, CRIS
- Organise and lead meetings, including preparation of agenda and action log
Personal Qualities/Special Circumstances
Essential criteria
- Experience of managing and prioritising workload, multi-tasking and working to tight deadlines
- To have good people management skills eg, robust sickness absence, conduct, performance etc
- Provide an understanding of the importance of confidentiality and data protection in a hospital environment
