About Briarwood
Our assessment unit supports older adults with a diagnosis of dementia or dementia like symptoms, who are experiencing behaviours that challenge. Our team of experienced Staff Nurses and Support Workers assess individuals with differing diagnoses of dementia such as early onset Alzheimer’s disease, Korsakoff’s dementia and vascular dementia.
The assessment process is usually 12 weeks, with the team working closely with the individual, their families and carers, and other professionals involved in their care. The unit is fast paced but highly rewarding, determining the level of need an individual requires whatever stage they are at, in their dementia journey.
As a Support Worker, you will be passionate about helping to improve the wellbeing of older people living with dementia and other complex mental health needs.
We are looking for highly motivated individuals with good communication and interpersonal skills, plus a genuine desire to work with this client group. The ability to work effectively within a team in order to support our service users to achieve their own recovery goals is essential. Ideally you will have previous experience of working with individuals with complex mental health needs, though this is not essential.
