Advert Wording

At Red Laithes Court/Havelock Street we provide day services for people with learning disabilities who have a wide range of support needs. We work closely with physiotherapists, speech and language therapists, dieticians, and psychologists to make sure that the needs of people accessing our service are met in any way possible. We encourage people to be as independent and in control of their lives as possible, whilst offering a wide range of activities for service users.

Our main aim is to help people feel valued and help them to live life to their full potential. We ensure that their experience of using our service is positive, fun and meaningful. The service in 2026 will be moving to Heckmondwike to a new day centre for North Kirklees.

The Role

You will be supporting individuals with a wide range of tasks around movement & handling, personal care, supporting with exercise programs, administration of medication / buccal rescue medication, and Gastrostomy care.

You will be working with individuals on a 1-1 basis, who have complex health/behaviours, promoting daily living skills, offering choices / guidance, and promoting dignity, respecting service users’ cultural beliefs, lifestyle, privacy and confidentially.

You will also contribute to care plans and risk assessments, assisting with transport to/from individual’s home.

Requirements For This Role Include

  • An understanding of Adult Social Care.
  • Caring and flexible approach.
  • Hold the Care Certificate (or equivalent) or be prepared to complete this within 12 weeks of appointment.
  • Willingness to undertake specialist training.
