We are seeking to recruit a fixed term full-time Supported Employment Job Coach to support young people with a disability into education, training or employment. You will be part of the Business Growth and Inclusion team who are responsible for managing employability delivery across the city. The team manage projects ranging from supporting those at risk of leaving school and not securing a positive destination, to providing employability support to those who have additional barriers such as a disability or long-term health condition - through to awarding contracts and grants to third sector organisations for specialist employability delivery.
The Job Coach will be involved in all aspects of the delivery of our Edinburgh Project SEARCH programme. This will include recruitment and ongoing support of young people with a disability or long-term health condition, enabling them to participate in supported training and work placements and helping them to gain skills and qualifications for future employment.
The Job Coach will also help develop work placements within council departments, other public, private and third sector organisations with the aim of progressing young people into paid employment.
The successful candidate should have excellent organisational skills, experience of providing support to those with a disability or health condition, an understanding of the issues affecting young people with barriers to employment and an awareness of the issues affecting the city in the current economic climate.

This post is regarded as regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out with the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. You will be required to provide this check. An unconditional offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to the outcome of both these pre-employment checks being deemed satisfactory.

Our salary range typically reflects the initial starting salary and annually increases until it reaches the top of the range.
