Purpose As a
Surgical Equipment Manager, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining a sales territory by promoting BVI’s full capital equipment portfolio to ophthalmic surgeons and other key stakeholders. Your focus will be on building strong relationships, driving sales, and delivering value-based solutions across hospitals, ambulatory surgery centers, and private ophthalmic clinics. The role requires close cross-functional collaboration with internal partners to ensure customer satisfaction and maximize business impact.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and maintain strong relationships with customers by identifying unmet needs and offering BVI’s portfolio as a consultative, value-based solution.
- Conduct impactful presentations and product demonstrations, both in operating rooms and via digital platforms, to educate and engage stakeholders.
- Confidently sell capital equipment and consumables, securing new business and growing existing accounts.
- Facilitate surgical evaluations of products, providing support on technique and instrument selection in collaboration with surgeons.
- Prospect new accounts through cold calling, clinic visits, and leveraging market insights to meet and exceed sales targets.
- Utilize CRM data and field observations to understand market trends, monitor competition, and inform strategic decisions.
- Support the installed base by ensuring equipment performance and customer compliance with purchase agreements.
- Lead the sales process collaboratively from lead generation to post-sale support, partnering with sales peers, technical service, and clinical application teams.
- Provide sales management with key data and metrics to support the development of commercial offers and financing programs.
- Work with the Clinical Application team to promote best practices for clinical success and address any issues related to product adoption.
- Manage the vitreoretinal (VR) consumables portfolio associated with BVI’s surgical equipment.
Qualification
- Experience in capital equipment and/or medical device sales, preferably within ophthalmology or a surgical environment
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal — able to convey complex sales messages clearly across stakeholders (surgeons, office and surgical staff)
- Strong pre-call planning and territory management skills
- Proficient in MS Office and experienced with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software
- Able to analyze sales data to make informed decisions on strategy and engagement
- Demonstrated ability to resolve complex issues with a high level of initiative
- Willingness to travel frequently within the territory
- Fluency in English (additional language skills are a plus depending on the region)
