£27,485 – £30,162 per annum, pro rata
Closing date: 28 January 2026
A fast-paced, meaningful role supporting people in mental health crisis, as part of Sussex’s 24/7 NHS Mental Healthline service.
Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust is looking for compassionate and resilient Call Operators to join the Sussex Mental Healthline, our 24/7 NHS mental health crisis line. You will be part of a dedicated, supportive team responding to people across Sussex who need urgent mental health support for themselves or others.
About the role
As a Mental Healthline Call Operator, you will be the first point of contact for people calling the NHS 111 mental health option. You will use a structured triage tool alongside your interpersonal skills to listen, support callers, gather information and, where appropriate, escalate to clinicians or signpost to local services. This is a busy, varied and highly rewarding role, working within a fully office-based crisis service. You will receive a bespoke induction, ongoing training and a robust supervision and support package, including opportunities for reflection, mentoring and development.
Why join Sussex Partnership?
At SPFT, we put people first – both the communities we serve and the colleagues who work here. We’re proud to be rated ‘Outstanding’ for caring by the CQC, and in our latest staff survey 82% of colleagues told us that patient care is our top priority. You’ll be joining an organisation that actively supports flexible working, invests in training and development, and values compassionate, inclusive leadership.
Why Worthing?
You’ll be based in Worthing – a growing coastal town with a strong community feel, offering seaside living and easy access to Brighton, London and Gatwick by rail.
