About the role

As Sustainability Manager, you will play a key role in shaping and driving Bauer Media Group’s sustainability reporting and strategy across the organisation. You’ll lead the delivery of our sustainability reporting framework (including CSRD compliance), manage cross-functional projects, and ensure data quality and alignment with emerging regulatory requirements.

This role sits within our Group Sustainability team, part of Group Corporate Governance, and collaborates with stakeholders across all business units to build an integrated, compliant, and future-ready sustainability framework.

Locations: Hamburg or London (Hybrid)

Key Responsibilities

Sustainability Reporting & Project Delivery

• Develop and implement a Group-wide sustainability reporting approach, aligned with CSRD requirements
• Manage project plans, timelines, and stakeholder communication for reporting initiatives
• Ensure reporting data quality and audit-readiness, including through training and support for data owners
• Build an MVP report and lead the transition to a fully compliant sustainability report

Compliance Initiatives

• Refresh and lead double materiality assessments, data mapping, and gap analysis
• Collaborate on related sustainability initiatives (e.g., carbon accounting, EU taxonomy)
• Monitor regulatory developments and advise on compliance strategy
• Share best practices across markets and create scalable, effective reporting processes

Stakeholder Engagement

• Partner with business leaders to align sustainability strategy with corporate goals
• Build strong working relationships with stakeholders across Bauer’s business units
• Communicate complex sustainability topics in a clear and actionable manner

Qualifications & Experience

Essential:

• University degree with several years' experience in sustainability, environmental management, CSR, compliance, or similar
• Practical knowledge of sustainability reporting frameworks (e.g., ESRS, GRI, ISSB)
• Strong analytical and project management skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication in English
• Ability to work independently and collaborate across diverse teams and cultures
• Team-oriented mindset with readiness to step beyond core duties to support shared goals.

Desirable:

• Experience in sustainability strategy implementation
• Familiarity with data mapping and ESG tools
• Business fluency in German or Polish
• Project management certification
• Experience in the media industry
