System Engineer

Senior Systems Engineer – Cloud & Linux (Crypto/Trading) - London, Up to £150k–170k base + bonus

The Client:

A leading proprietary trading firm at the forefront of digital asset markets, specialising in high-frequency trading, market making, and liquidity provision. The team develops advanced low-latency systems, leveraging quantitative research, high-performance computing, and expertise across centralised and decentralised markets.

The Role

• Provide technical support for production environments and troubleshoot real-time incidents.
• Optimise cloud infrastructure architecture to achieve best network performance.
• Debug kernel-level and Linux system performance issues.
• Investigate complex network or Linux-related problems.
• Contribute to infrastructure design for office expansion and future growth.
• Mentor colleagues and engage stakeholders on technical solutions.

What We’re Looking For

• 8+ years’ experience in Linux production support and cloud environments, with low-latency or trading backgrounds.
• Strong knowledge of modern Linux systems and systems programming concepts (sockets, virtual memory, process lifecycle).
• Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or other relevant course
• Experience with Terraform, Bash, and Python.
• Ability to estimate project efforts, manage sub-plans, and deliver projects successfully.
• Experience producing clear, concise documentation for knowledge transfer.
• Senior-level skills to mentor others and influence technical decisions.
