Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and technically driven BMS System Engineer to lead our Test Engineering Team from a technical perspective. This role is pivotal in ensuring the robustness and reliability of our Battery Management System by aligning closely with the System Engineering team and guiding the Test Engineers in developing comprehensive and effective test cases. In short, you will be operating at the intersection of the left and right side of the V diagram to translate and build bridges between two phases of the product development.
A position within the BMS team requires a highly motivated and hands on team player with exceptional attention to detail, pro-activeness, diligence, a positive attitude and the ability to communicate well. Our customers expect high standards, and we require staff capable of meeting such demands.
Key Responsibilities:
- Technical Leadership: Act as the technical point of contact for the test team, providing guidance and mentorship in test strategy, methodology, and execution.
- System Alignment: Collaborate closely with BMS System Engineers to understand all functional requirements and system-level behaviours.
- Test Case Development: Translate system requirements into detailed, structured, and traceable test cases in collaboration with test engineers.
- Peer Review: Conduct thorough peer reviews of test cases to ensure completeness, correctness, and high coverage across all BMS functions.
- Coverage Analysis: Ensure test cases provide adequate coverage for functional, safety, and diagnostic requirements.
- Tool & Process Improvement: Support the development and refinement of test tools, automation frameworks, and processes to improve test efficiency and quality.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with software, hardware, and validation teams to ensure test alignment across all development stages.
- Documentation: Maintain clear and comprehensive documentation of test strategies, plans, and results.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related field.
- Strong understanding of BMS architecture, functions (e.g., SOC, SOH, balancing, thermal management, contactor controls, diagnostics etc), and safety standards (e.g., ISO 26262).
- Proven experience in test case development, test planning, and test coverage analysis.
- Familiarity with tools such as CANoe, Vector tools, MATLAB/Simulink, and test management platforms (e.g., Polarion, DOORS).
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Preferred Skills:
- 5+ years of experience in Battery Management Systems, automotive systems, or embedded systems testing.
- Experience with automated testing frameworks and scripting (e.g., Python, CAPL).
- Knowledge of functional safety and diagnostic testing.
- ISTQB certification or similar is a plus.
