The Role
As a System Network Administrator, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You’ll have the opportunity to work within a small proficient team in a foreign environment, working alongside the military utilising and building and enhancing your skillset.
- You will be someone who is highly motivated, can work autonomously and be able to spend potentially 6 months of the year outside of the UK. These deployments that you will undertake usually have a duration of 3 months, there are usually up to 2 deployments in a 12-month period. You will need to undertake an application for a work visa dependant on the overseas location, as well undergoing medical and dental physical check-ups for these locations.
- You will also be required to work at various UK locations which may involve relocating away from home for around 4 – 8 weeks at a time, travelling weekly in line with the project schedule.
- You will be someone who can collaborate with the end user and be able to naturally form working in partnerships with them.
The Tactical Communications focus area is looking to grow its team by recruiting talented IT professionals familiar with working in network management and administration roles, to function as System Network Administrators to support Ground Based Air Defence (GBAD) systems that have been deployed internationally and within the UK.
Day-to-day, you’ll based within our Tactical Communications, Mission Systems business area.
- Providing on-site network and system technical and administrator support to deployed units as well as off-site reach-back assisting other team members of deployed units.
- Proactively prosecuting and understanding software defects and working to resolve them.
- Providing on-site technical support in sometimes challenging conditions.
- Liaising with a range of external stakeholders involved in the GBAD project.
- Working to provide Operational Capability to military platforms and Command teams and assisting Tactical Communications Project Managers, System Engineers and ILS staff in the execution of their duties.
- Provision of Suitably Qualified and Experienced Person (SQEP) knowledge, skills and experience to support Tactical Communications and the wider Mission Systems business.

This role is full time, 35 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements onsite and working from home.
Essential Experience Of The System Network Administrator
- Solid grounding in computer systems and networking with experience of deploying and maintaining those systems.
- strong understanding of how networks and devices interact and be comfortable with troubleshooting a range of technical issues.
- hands-on experience and a practical, with problem-solving ability of keeping systems and networks running smoothly and securely.
Qualifications For The System Network Administrator
- You will hold a degree qualification in a relevant Computer Science or IT field or provide evidence that your relevant experience in the network administration domain is to a similar high standard.
