Brief Description
Route Services is a division of Network Rail that provides the Routes with services so they can help Network Rail deliver a better railway for a better Britain. We support the Routes with a myriad of services and supplies they need to maintain and operate the railway. See the diagram for a breakdown of our services. This role sits within
Supply Chain Operations (SCO), an area of the business which supplies and delivers the logistics, materials, components, rail and road fleet that enable the maintenance and renewal of the railway.
SCO keeps the materials, machinery and components required by its customers moving – making sure they are on-site when needed so work can go ahead as planned and on schedule. Watch our video Working in Supply Chain Operations

About The Role (External)
This role sits within Asset Information Services (AIS), which helps specify, collect, evaluate, collate and analyse data and information about Network Rail’s infrastructure assets (track, tunnels, signals, etc.) that support informed asset management decision-making by our maintenance and engineering colleagues.
In this role you’ll deliver second-line support services and facilitate third-line support and change management for a suite of asset management and information systems supported by the team as, including call allocation, problem determination and issue resolution. You’ll provide specialist analysis and end-user support, communication and advice.
Key accountabilities include:
- Deliver second-line support services and facilitate third-line support for a suite of asset management and information systems to meet customer and end user requirements and service level agreements.
- Undertake root cause analysis of incident calls raised, working with other support providers and end users to deliver timely resolution of issues.
- Facilitate system request and change management processes, undertaking impact analyses of proposed changes and monitoring the progress of change requests through to implementation.
- Deliver system configuration changes, reference table data maintenance and other minor system and process enhancement activities as directed.
- Provide responsive and effective stakeholder and end-user engagement and communication on issue resolution, change proposal progress and other areas of systems-related support and advice.
- Provide subject matter expertise to support the development and implementation of new and/or updated support services and processes into business-as-usual operation.
- Maintain a knowledge base for supported systems and applications including licensing, versioning, operational issues and support processes and procedures.
- Maintain accurate records of system incidents and requests within the call management systems and maintain and report other service-related management information as directed.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate the following criteria:
Essential
- Demonstrable experience of working in a system support function including undertaking changes to systems, processes and data.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
- Competent knowledge of core company applications or suitable equivalents.
- Competent knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
Desirable
- Competent experience of using SQL language.
- Ability to adapt readily to changing work and responsibilities.

Vacancy type: This role is permanent.
Location: This position is based at The Quadrant: MK (minimum of 60% office presence per week).
Hours: 35 hours per week with hybrid working.
Salary range: £28,000 to £30,000 per annum, depending on skills and experience.

Drugs and Alcohol Standard:
