We’re looking for a
System Engineer to our Core Banking team at Tesco Bank, part of Barclays Bank UK Plc.
Working within a team of system engineers to automate the build, maintenance, operation and support a range of cloud infrastructure within AWS and beyond. This encompasses some of our core colleague and customer-facing services.
Devops engineers work closely with the senior engineers and product owners on everyday challenges, while also assisting our lead and principal engineers on our longer term technology goals.

What You’ll Be Doing
- You’ll build and support cloud-based solutions, improving practices working with a market leading technology stack.
- Working with vendors and architects on solution frameworks, performing cloud automation. Carrying out strategic improvements of multiple systems across environments maintaining desired security levels for services in the cloud.
- Working as part of an Agile team, closely collaborating with developers, analysts, and SMEs to maximise the quality of Tesco Bank’s products.
- You’ll devise and implement solutions, promote, implement, and collaborate to evolve our practice standards and patterns.
- With experience, act as a subject matter expert with architecture and product teams.
We need you to have: - Experience with cloud-based technologies, including AWS(Must), Azure. We’re using AWS exclusively for now.
- Experience with AWS products, Terraform/Chef/Puppet/Packer and Jenkins. We automate using a mix of Terraform, Packer, Ansible, Python and Bash, using Jenkins as our pipeline tool.
- Experience using RHEL Linux, confident navigating the command line and troubleshooting O/S and application related issues.
- Exposure to DevOps toolsets and CI/CD concepts.
And if you have any of these, even better
- Knowledge of Agile practises and ceremonies
- Understanding of containerisation technologies
- Scripting Knowledge in Bash or Python
