Systems Engineer – All Levels
Your Skills To Drive Success
At Leonardo, we solve real-world engineering challenges, designing and developing mission-critical solutions that power some of the world’s most advanced defence and security systems.
Radar systems for fighter jets like the Typhoon and SAAB Gripen require Systems Engineers to plan and deliver Flight Trials activity in support of product development.
Successful applicants will have previous experience within a similar industry and some level of supporting engineering trials and processing large datasets.
Key Skills You’ll Use & Develop
Data Processing & Analysis
- Work with large datasets from ground and flight trials. Use analytical techniques to evaluate radar performance against requirements and raise problem reports for detailed investigation.
- Apply signal processing, image processing, and object classification techniques to extract actionable insights.
Integration, Testing & Validation
- Investigate system anomalies using real trial data, ensuring performance meets specifications.
- Design and execute verification & validation (V&V) strategies across the entire system lifecycle.
Collaboration & Leadership
- Work alongside multidisciplinary teams to develop and prototype cutting-edge defence solutions.
- Depending on experience, lead technical initiatives, mentor junior engineers, and influence engineering roadmaps.
What Else Would Help
- Proven experience leading systems engineering projects.
- Ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage competing priorities effectively.
- Understanding of radar or complex sensor systems.
- Familiarity with system lifecycle processes, MBSE tools, and requirements management.
- Ability to interpret and analyse large datasets using tools such as MATLAB.
- Excellent communication skills with an aptitude for cross-discipline collaboration.
- A continuous improvement mindset and a proactive approach to problem solving.
- Willingness to travel & support flight trials.
