Join the team as we strengthen our Systems Engineering capability and take a leading role in ensuring our land-based defence systems are safe, compliant and fully assured.
About the Role
As our Landworthiness Manager / Senior Engineer, you will be the subject matter expert for Landworthiness, safety and environmental engineering across our land system projects. You’ll shape policy, guide engineering teams, support assurance activities and ensure we meet all statutory and contractual requirements.
This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a highly technical environment, enjoys working across multi-disciplinary teams, and wants real influence over product safety and compliance.
What You’ll Do
Develop and maintain Landworthiness, System Safety & Environmental policies and processes
Lead audit and assurance activities across all land programmes
Oversee creation of key artefacts: SEMPs, Hazard Logs, Safety & Environmental Case Reports, Landworthiness Evidence Packs
Guide teams in meeting statutory and contractual Landworthiness requirements
Present assurance evidence at design reviews, audits and customer forums
Identify improvements across engineering and business processes
Provide training, mentorship and technical guidance to maintain a strong safety culture
Act as the organisational expert for Landworthiness in line with defence regulatory frameworks
What You Bring
Proven experience in Landworthiness or Land System Safety within defence
Strong knowledge of Defence Standards (e.g., Def Stan 00-056) & land safety regulations
Experience across the engineering lifecycle and assurance gates
Prior safety, landworthiness or technical authority delegation beneficial
Excellent communication, analytical and problem-solving skills
