Overview
A high-growth, private equity-backed technology business is seeking an experienced Interim Tax Consultant to lead and manage its group tax function during a period of rapid change.
Reporting directly to the senior finance leadership team, and will require a hands-on, commercially focused approach. It will involve managing external advisors, ensuring compliance across multiple jurisdictions, and providing strategic tax input on corporate transactions and restructuring initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the global tax function, acting as the primary point of contact for all tax matters.
- Manage relationships with external tax advisors and ensure compliance with tax obligations in all operating jurisdictions.
- Provide tax structuring advice and due diligence support for M&A transactions.
- Oversee day-to-day tax operations, including UK VAT, US sales tax, international filings, and corporate tax compliance.
- Support senior finance leadership in cash flow and tax planning.
- Develop and implement group-wide transfer pricing policies and supporting documentation.
- Lead tax workstreams for corporate restructuring and integration projects.
- Manage cross-border tax issues, including treaty positions.
- Create scalable tax processes, policies, and governance structures.
- Provide training and guidance to finance and commercial teams to raise tax awareness across the business.
- Advise on global tax risk, structuring, and the tax implications of business strategy.
Candidate Profile
- Hands-on and delivery-focused, with the ability to manage tax matters from strategy to execution.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with multiple concurrent priorities.
- Strong commercial awareness alongside technical expertise.
- Effective communicator able to influence stakeholders and explain complex tax concepts clearly.
- High levels of integrity and discretion, especially with sensitive transactions.
Experience & Qualifications
- CTA (or equivalent) qualification; ACA/ACCA with strong tax specialism also considered.
- Proven experience in PE-backed or acquisitive businesses.
- Strong M&A tax experience, including due diligence and structuring.
- International tax expertise, particularly US tax and cross-border issues.
- Transfer pricing experience.
- Blend of Big 4/advisory and in-house experience preferred.
- Experience building or developing a tax function is highly advantageous.
