Tax Graduate – Personal & Family
Based in Edinburgh or Glasgow
JOB PURPOSE
We have an exciting opportunity for a graduate to continue their professional development while also benefiting from on the job training and support within our Personal Tax team. This role would be suitable for an accountancy, legal studies or related discipline graduate looking to specialise or gain experience in personal tax.
This position is particularly suited to someone looking to gain deep expertise in areas such as tax planning for individuals and families, succession and inheritance tax, trusts, estate planning, and support for high-net-worth individuals (HNWIs).
CORE TASKS
- Advising individuals and families on income tax, capital gains tax (cgt), and inheritance tax (iht) issues.
- Assisting with trust and estate planning, including drafting reports and preparing tax calculations.
- Conducting research into complex tax issues and preparing technical notes and summaries for colleagues and clients.
- Drafting blogs, articles, and client updates on relevant tax developments.
- Supporting with the preparation and submission of personal tax returns and trust tax returns where required.
- Participating in client meetings and presentations, gradually taking on more responsibility as experience develops
- Be aware of Brodies’ information security policies, and protect information assets from unauthorised access, disclosure, modification, destruction or interference at all times.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
- Achieved or on target to achieve a 2:1 in accountancy, legal studies or related discipline.
- Organised and capable of working under pressure, and to tight deadlines.
- Ability to challenge and improve existing working practises.
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
- Presents a professional image to clients.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Committed to highest level of client care and service
