About the Role:

We are building the EU tax function from the ground up.This is not a “maintenance” role – it’s a rare opportunity to be part of the blueprint stage, helping design and execute the processes, controls and strategies that will define how tax is managed across the region.

You will work directly with the EU Head of Tax to shape a world-class function that delivers on compliance, governance, and strategic value.If you thrive on complexity, take pride in precision, and want to leave your mark on something transformative, this is the role for you.

Key Responsibilities:

Compliance and reporting

• Deliver accurate, timely corporation tax, VAT, and other relevant filings across multiple EU jurisdictions.
• Support tax provisioning and reporting for quarterly and year-end closes in line with IFRS/local GAAP.
• Coordinate with finance teams, advisors, and auditors to ensure complete and compliant submissions.

Governance and process build-out

• Help design and implement tax governance frameworks, including documentation, controls, and risk registers.
• Develop efficient processes for gathering, validating, and analysing tax data from multiple entities and systems.
• Create process manuals and working templates to future-proof the function.

Advisory and strategic support

• Assist in assessing the tax implications of commercial initiatives, restructurings, and cross-border transactions.
• Monitor EU and local legislative developments, identifying risks and opportunities for the business.
• Contribute to transfer pricing, R&D incentives, and indirect tax planning projects.

Stakeholder engagement

• Collaborate with finance, legal, operations, and commercial teams to integrate tax into decision-making.
• Manage relationships with external advisors, ensuring value for fees paid and actionable deliverables.

About You:

Must-haves:

• 4-7 years’ experience in tax (Big 4, mid-tier, or in-house), ideally with exposure to both direct and indirect taxes.
• Strong working knowledge of EU tax compliance requirements and cross-border tax principles.
• Proven ability to manage deadlines across multiple jurisdictions.
• A builder’s mindset: you don’t just “do” – you question, improve and create.
• Excellent attention to detail with the ability to distil complexity into clear actions.
• Confident communicator, able to hold your own with senior stakeholders and challenge advisors where needed.

Nice-to-haves:

• Experience in the financial services or payments sector.
• Working knowledge of transfer pricing and interaction with other taxes.
• Familiarity with tax technology or process automation tools.
