An opportunity has arisen for a Teaching Support Technician for the School of Veterinary Medicine and Science, based at the Sutton Bonington Campus.

The post is offered on a permanent contract. Hours of work are full time 36.25 hours per week.

The person appointed will work as part of a team supporting the teaching activities of the School of Veterinary Medicine and Science by ensuring that the Clinical skills, live animal (small and large), dissection, cadaver surgery and laboratory based practical classes are fully provided for through the provision of materials, advice, and operational support. The person appointed will support the running of the school’s animal facilities as well as the maintenance of all teaching areas, this will include stocking areas with consumables and ensuring the cleanliness and tidiness of all teaching areas are maintained to a high standard. The role will also include collection of material from abattoirs and clinical associate practices.

You will be working as part of a team providing technical support to the teaching activities of the School of Veterinary Medicine and Science, with a focus that the practical courses are fully provided for through the provisions of materials, advice, and operational support.

Description for Internal Candidates.

Candidates should possess GCSE's (grade C and above) or equivalent, including Maths and English, or work experience in a similar role. An understanding of basic animal husbandry and the principles of animal biology/anatomy. The candidate should possess a full, current drivers license. The post will require flexibility, dynamism, energy and initiative, the ability to work independently and as part of a team, and good communication skills. The successful candidate will take a positive and flexible approach to work to deal with a variety of requests and tasks.
