Applications are invited to the above role to provide timely and high-quality technical support to teaching in the School of Life Sciences. The role holder will be required to work within the technical teaching team to support the operation and management of undergraduate teaching sessions within the School`s laboratory facilities, ensuring work is consistently completed to a high standard. The role holder is also required to provide support to academic staff with the preparation/testing of materials and equipment necessary for all classes, experience is required in the preparation of culture media and solutions.
The successful candidate will work in a team directly with technical colleagues, assisting in carrying out set tasks when directed, they will also be responsible in carrying out risk assessments on all activities before testing procedures. They require skills in a variety of disciplines but with emphasis on Biochemistry and Microbiology techniques.
We are seeking candidates with skills in a variety of disciplines, with excellent organizational skills and the ability to plan, prioritize and manage a full workload, additionally they will also require problem solving skills and a good understanding of health and safety.
Applicants must have the ability to lift and move objects as this role will involve storing and moving consumables and equipment regularly. They must also have previous experience working in a technical or scientific role. Minimum of HNC in a relevant subject or equivalent qualifications.
This is a permanent, full time position (36.25 hours/Weekly).
