Job Overview

We are looking for an experience and motivated Dietitian to join our supportive and dynamic team on a fixed-term basis.

This is an exciting opportunity to step into a team leadership position to support and manage the Community Dietetics Team and contribute to high-quality service delivery during a time of transition.

This post has been created to strengthen clinical and operational leadership within the team, ensuring staff are well supported, supervision is maintained, and service development continue to progress. You will provide expert clinical input, help co-ordinate caseloads, and contribute to service planning, whilst also supporting the wellbeing and development of team members.

the service is scheduled for TUPE to a new provider in 7 months, and this fixed-term post has been designed to provide stability, continuity, and leadership during this period.

Main duties of the job

The Main Duties Of This Role Are To

  • supervise and manage the day to day running of the team
  • hold a caseload of your own
  • support the Head of Therapies in managing the TUPE process where appropriate
  • collaborate with the other Dietetics Teams for the benefit of our patients and colleagues

Person specification

Qualifications

Essential criteria

  • Degree in Nutrition and Dietetics or equivalent, acceptable for registration with Health Care Professions Council e.g. BSc Nutrition and Dietetics
  • Attendance at recent post-graduate courses relevant to the clinical fields

Desirable criteria

  • Member of British Dietetic Association
  • Post registration in diabetes or communication and behaviour change skills.
  • Leadership training.

Knowledge & Experience

Essential criteria

  • Advanced knowledge of broad range of conditions in specialist area
  • Experience of working as part of an Dietitian team and/or multi-disciplinary team
  • Experience of supervising more junior staff
  • Evidence of personal participation in clinical governance issues in relation to dietetic practice
  • Knowledge of the workings of community therapy services and intermediate care services

Desirable criteria

  • Experience of supervising/supporting staff

Specific Skills

Essential criteria

  • To have experience of organisation, prioritisation and delegation
  • To understand clinical governance and its implications for services, including experience of quality issues and audit
  • To be experienced in performing specialist assessments and treatments with patients with a variety of specific conditions
  • To be able to comprehend and work within all the Trusts’ policies of data protection, equal opportunities and health and safety

Essential Requirements

Essential criteria

  • Car driver (with access to a vehicle for work).
  • Able to work in domicilliary setting

Physical skills & emotional effort

Essential criteria

  • To carry out assessments and treatments of patients for several periods with moderate to intense physical effort whilst carrying out concurrent activities
  • To have experience of maintaining high levels of concentration when under pressure from competing sources

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
