About The Role
We’re looking for an inspiring Team Leader to take charge of our newly shaped Carer Teams — a role that will put you at the heart of positive change and service innovation.
The role is based at County Hall and is being offered on a permanent basis.
Anybody can be or become a carer. A carer is anyone who cares, unpaid, for a friend or family member who due to illness, disability, substance misuse or a mental health need cannot cope without their support. A carer can be a parent, son or daughter, brother or sister, wife, husband or partner, friend or neighbour or another relative.
LCC encourages carers to identify themselves as a carer and to recognise the importance and value of their caring role.
The Care Act 2014 states that where it appears to a local authority that a carer may have needs requiring support, either currently or in the future, they have a right to receive an assessment to determine what those needs are.
You will be responsible for managing a team of Community Support Workers in the Carers team, who will focus on the completion of carers assessments and reviews in line with The Care Act 2014.
The ideal candidate for this role will have extensive knowledge of working in an Adult Social Care setting.

Job Purpose
To improve outcomes for people by ensuring that staff can provide good outcomes for people by implementing the departments operating model and ways of working to deliver social care
To provide technical and professional support to team members
To improve ways of working for staff by supporting and implementing improved working between teams and partner agencies
To manage staffing budgets and staff performance using departmental and corporate policies ensuring effective and efficient team capacity, capability and delivery
To ensure the effective management of team performance and resources
To provide performance and delivery reports to Strategic Service Managers and the Head of Service
A DBS enhanced check for a regulated activity is required for this post.
About You
To apply for this post, you must:
Have substantial adult social care experience and Successful track record in a social care or health organisation
Theoretical, practical and procedural knowledge of and social care legislation, policy and best practice, along with a degree level qualification or equivalent management experience
Partnership/MDT working with representative citizens and carers to identify service and support solutions
Have a sound knowledge of the Care Act 2014
Experience of business planning
Significant experience in people and performance management and Experience in managing and implementing change and performance improvement programmes, along with Proven experience in budget management and in delivering significant efficient savings
An understanding of, and commitment to Equal Opportunities, and the ability to apply this to all situations
