The Service & Team:
This role supports the
Employment and Enterprise team and is crucial to Cornwall Council's objective of helping young people secure employment, education, and training opportunities. The team focuses on assisting young individuals aged 14 to 18 (or up to 24 for those with an EHCP) who are at risk of disengaging from education or work. We primarily support young people from vulnerable and disadvantaged backgrounds, including those with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), children in care, and those involved with the Youth Justice System.
The Role
As a
Team Lead, you'll manage a team of
Career Development Consultants, guiding them to achieve positive outcomes for young people transitioning post-16. Your responsibilities will include collaborating with internal and external organisations to support young people through their transitions. You will be responsible for a team who work directly with young people, helping them plan their futures, and deliver a range of career services within schools. The team provide personalised guidance and support interventions tailored to individual needs. This position requires establishing strong working relationships with key partners, such as schools, post-16 providers, and parents/carers, to ensure young people receive effective support.
This is a public facing role, where the statutory English language requirement for public sector workers applies.
This position will be subject to a enhanced criminal record disclosure check.
Working Pattern
The role is delivered Monday to Friday during standard working hours. Cornwall Council operates a flexible working policy. Candidates will be expected to work from the office for up to two days a week.
