Team Manager – Children’s Services
Location: Based at Truro office, covering Mid & West Cornwall
Contract Type: Permanent | Full-Time (40 hours per week)
Salary: £26,500 per annum + mileage allowance (35p per mile)

About The Role
Bluebird Care Mid & West Cornwall is seeking a dedicated and experienced
Team Manager to oversee the operational delivery of support services for children and young people with additional needs. This leadership role covers a wide geographical area—
across Mid & West Cornwall—and is based at our central office in Truro.
You will work closely with the Children’s Area Manager to ensure high standards of care, compliance with CQC regulations, and a supportive environment for staff and families alike.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and mentor care staff through regular supervisions, observations, and quality checks.
- Monitor care delivery and ensure care plans and risk assessments remain up to date and effective.
- Conduct spot checks, respond to concerns, and support care staff both in the office and out in the field.
- Participate in the on-call rota alongside other senior staff.
- Audit documentation and maintain accurate care records in line with regulatory expectations.
- Promote positive relationships with customers, families, schools, and health professionals.
- Support the induction and development of new team members.
Candidate Requirements
Essential:
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in health or social care, ideally in a community or children’s setting.
- Excellent understanding of person-centred support and care compliance.
- Strong leadership, time management, and communication skills.
- Flexible approach to working hours, including occasional evening/weekend duties.
- Competent IT skills and confident in using electronic care systems.
- Full UK driving licence and access to a reliable vehicle.
Desirable:
- NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Health & Social Care, or willingness to work towards it.
- Previous supervisory or team leadership experience.
