Main Purpose and Accountability of the Role
Working within EPO Finance, you will have accountability within the Accounting Policy Group (APG)
Key Responsibilities
Specifically, you will be accountable and responsible for taking appropriate action with respect to the Companies’ and Branch’s accounting policies, including:
- Providing technical accounting advice in respect of all of the MUFG EMEA & International entities activities
- Partnering with Front Office to advise on the accounting implications of their business and actively ensuring that they are aware of forthcoming accounting changes and their impacts
- Advising on accounting policy for new products, new deals, restructurings and complex transactions
- Provide training to both the front and back office on accounting developments
- Active engagement with external auditors on policy matters
- Issuing new accounting policies under IFRS
- Advising on accounting and classification for consolidation reporting under IFRS, UK, US and Japanese GAAP
- Reviewing disclosures and supporting the Financial Reporting teams in the preparation of the various companies’ Financial Statements to ensure compliance with accounting requirements and best practice
- Attendance at industry groups to represent the Group’s perspective and gain insights into market practice
- Involvement in ad-hoc projects as required
Technical Capability
- You are responsible for the provision of technical advice across EMEA & the International Business units by reference to relevant GAAP
- You are also responsible and accountable for managing conflicting priorities and re-prioritising work accordingly
- Responsible for working effectively with other people via different methods, both inside and outside of Finance, building and promoting effective working relationships
- Responsible for using a range of communication skills to be able to adapt to a range of clients, stakeholder and external parties
Relationship With Other Functions And Stakeholders
- Maintain and enhance good working relationships with stakeholders, across the region and globally to share best practices, provide support and develop effective local policies and procedures appropriate to the Company, and working in support of the One MUFG and overall Group strategy.
