Overview:
We are recruiting for a skilled and motivated Technical Accountant to join our highly skilled Technical Accounting Team. The team plays a pivotal role in delivering expert accounting advice and support to Treasury clients across the UK.
In this role, you will require accounting expertise and knowledge gained in local government finance to provide authoritative guidance on the interpretation and compliance of sector specific financial regulations and standards. Your skills will directly support accurate financial reporting, effective policy implementation and informed strategic decision-making.
The role offers the flexibility of hybrid working, with a base in one of our stunning offices in either London or Leeds, providing an excellent balance between colleague collaboration and personal wellbeing.

What you need:
As with any role, we want to find the right person and we want to make sure you know it’s the right role for you too. You will need:
• Proven technical accounting / treasury experience gained in Local Government
• ACA / ACCA / CIMA / CPFA qualified – applicants who are Part Qualified and currently studying towards the final level of one of the recognised professional accounting bodies will be considered with the appropriate experience
• Demonstrable technical capability as a driven finance professional, with the ability to deliver to a high standard
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with the ability to translate technical concepts to non-finances stakeholders
• A professional demeanour, with excellent time management skills and the capability to work on multiple projects whilst ensuring deadlines are met
• Commitment to exemplary client service delivery
• Outstanding written skills with a high competency in the English language and an ability to explain complex financial information
• Flexibility, with the ability to travel to client engagements if required
Day to Day, you will:
• Assist in the delivery of technical accounting services to support the treasury team and the technical accounting team engagements for clients
• Assist in the delivery of consultancy-based work as defined in client specification(s), to provide technical accounting advice on the CIPFA Code of Practice, Prudential and Treasury Management Code and Statutory Regulations as required
• Understand and clearly present complex financial information whilst remaining actively focused to achieve business plan targets
• Maintain regular contact with Team / Line Manager / CRM’s to manage the expectations of clients, ensuring client satisfaction and report progress both internally and externally
• Prepare training material for client events such as slides, handout packs for fee paying and non-fee-paying events which have technical accounting content
• Assist with the research and development of technical accounting changes and support of consultation responses
• Present training in team workshops / seminars on areas such as technical accounting changes or the introduction to treasury events, with appropriate support and training where required
