About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Technical Architect to join a major public sector company. You will play a pivotal role in designing and delivering robust, scalable, and secure technical solutions that support critical services for millions of citizens. This role involves leading architectural decisions, ensuring alignment with the client’s technical strategy, and providing guidance across complex projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Architectural Leadership: Define and maintain high-level and low-level architecture for Working Age services, ensuring alignment with enterprise principles and government standards.
• API Design & Integration: Lead the design and implementation of RESTful APIs and API management strategies, ensuring security, scalability, and best practices for lifecycle management.
• Technical Governance: Provide oversight on technical designs, enforce compliance with security and data protection standards, and conduct architecture reviews.
• Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement: Work closely with product owners, delivery managers, and engineering teams to translate business needs into technical solutions. Communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
• Innovation & Continuous Improvement: Drive adoption of modern architectural patterns such as microservices and event-driven architectures and recommend improvements to existing systems.

Essential Skills & Experience

• Proven experience as a Technical Architect or similar senior technical leadership role.
• Strong expertise in API design, development, and management (REST, JSON, OpenAPI/Swagger).
• Hands-on experience with API gateways and integration platforms.
• Solid understanding of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Proficiency in microservices architecture and distributed systems.
• Knowledge of security best practices for APIs (OAuth2, JWT, TLS).
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, and Infrastructure as Code.
• Familiarity with government digital service standards and accessibility requirements.

Desirable

• Experience with event-driven architectures and messaging systems (Kafka, RabbitMQ).
• Knowledge of data privacy regulations (GDPR) and compliance frameworks.
• Exposure to TOGAF or similar architectural frameworks.
• Previous experience in public sector or large-scale enterprise environments
