About the Role
Delivery and support of, and consulting on Open GI Supplied Products/Solutions. Delivery of contracted services relating to Open GI supplied Products/Solutions, including field-based service delivery and support, pre-sales tasks, handover meetings and documentation.
This is a field-based role covering the North of England and Scotland. The successful candidate may be required to travel to various locations, including but not limited to: Leeds, Manchester, Bradford, Halifax, York, and Edinburgh. A full UK driving licence is required.
Responsibilities
- Provide Technical Consultancy for customer led projects as required.
- Provide technical pre-sales consultation for customer led projects using Open GI software and infrastructure solutions.
- Maintain customer systems as required and ensure system is operating satisfactorily.
- Maintain accurate system notes relating to support tasks and site visits.
- Assist the support teams with escalated support tickets and monitor incoming support demand.
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency via automation, training or otherwise.
- Complete system installations and upgrades as required.
- To ensure that, wherever possible, the customer’s fault has been resolved or that no further actions are necessary before ending a site visit.
- To deliver services in line with Open GI’s accepted standards, ensuring that Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Data Protection and other procedures are followed and upheld.
- Communicate effectively at all levels internally and externally.
- Plan and implement upgrades / installations as necessary.
- Provide quality, clear, customer focused documentation.
- Take responsibility for delivery of contracted projects to agreed timescales, including customer liaison relating to the progress of projects and resolution of issues raised.
- Design of standardised and bespoke customer infrastructure solutions.
- Assist with the evaluation of new technologies & solutions including Azure.
Skills
- Strong customer service skill and customer facing experience
- Windows Server (2012 - 2025) platform Knowledge/Experience
- Linux Knowledge/Experience
- Networking Knowledge/Experience
- Azure and Microsoft 365 Knowledge/Experience
Advantageous
- Knowledge of storage systems (NAS, SAN, iSCSI, Fibre Channel)
- Remote Desktop Services or Azure Virtual Desktop deployments
- TCP/IP networking experience (DNS, DHCP, Routing)
- Implementing and troubleshooting LAN and WAN technologies including Routers, Firewalls, Switches, Hubs, Wireless, VPNs, QoS, VoIP, etc.
- Implementing, maintaining, migrating and troubleshooting the following: - Active Directory, Exchange Server, Microsoft SQL Server, Remote Desktop Services and Azure Virtual Desktop
- Knowledge in Virtualisation platforms (Hyper-V, VMWare, Nutanix)
