Technical Data Solutions Designer

The Technical Data Solution Designer plays a key role in designing and delivering high-quality data products within our Data Democratisation squads. This is a hands-on technical role focused on translating business requirements into effective data solutions, contributing to the development of trusted Business Layers and insightful dashboards.

You will work closely with Product Owners, BI Specialists, and Analytics Engineers to support the end-to-end delivery of data products. While not the ultimate technical authority, you will take ownership of specific components of the solution, contribute to technical design discussions, and continuously develop your skills in data modelling, visualisation, and governance.

Key Responsibilities

Solution Design & Development

• Translate business requirements into well-structured technical tasks and contribute to the design of scalable data solutions.
• Support the development of Business Layers and Data Contracts under guidance from senior designers.
• Ensure alignment with data mesh principles and contribute to creating single sources of truth.

BI & Visualisation Support

• Apply best practices in data visualisation and UX to support dashboard development in Tableau.
• Collaborate with BI Specialists to ensure dashboards are intuitive and answer key business questions.

Technical Contribution & Learning

• Actively participate in development using tools like dbt, SQL, and GCP.
• Engage in peer reviews and seek mentorship from senior technical leads to improve your skills.
• Follow established coding, testing, and documentation standards.

Agile Delivery & Collaboration

• Contribute to Agile ceremonies and help define technical tasks during sprint planning and backlog grooming.
• Maintain and update Jira tickets related to your work, ensuring alignment with sprint goals.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Data Architects and Governance leads.

Data Governance & Quality

• Use Atlan to document your work and support data lineage and metadata management.
• Ensure your solutions meet data governance, privacy, and security standards.

The must haves

In order to be considered, you must have the following experience:

• Technical Proficiency: Solid skills in SQL and dbt; working knowledge of Tableau and GCP.
• Data Modelling: Understanding of dimensional modelling and data integration concepts.
• Visualisation & UX: Ability to contribute to effective data storytelling and dashboard design.
• Agile Ways of Working: Experience working in Agile squads and contributing to sprint delivery.
• Communication & Collaboration: Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
