Technical Manager – Residential


Location: East London


We’re working with a leading residential developer known for delivering high-quality housing and regeneration schemes across London and the South East. They’re looking for a Technical Manager to join their growing team in Brentwood and play a key role in overseeing the design and delivery of complex residential projects.


The Role:

You’ll be responsible for managing the full technical and design process across several live and upcoming developments. This includes overseeing external consultants, coordinating planning and construction information, and ensuring all technical output aligns with quality, commercial, and regulatory requirements.


This is a hands-on role suited to someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, has a strong understanding of the full development lifecycle, and can work collaboratively across multiple internal and external teams.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the technical and design coordination from feasibility through to construction
  • Manage consultants and coordinate all design information across disciplines
  • Liaise with planning authorities, building control, utility providers, and internal teams
  • Review drawings, ensure compliance with Building Regulations and planning conditions
  • Provide technical input into land bids and development appraisals
  • Attend site regularly to support project teams and ensure buildability of designs
  • Monitor programme timelines and support commercial teams with accurate information
  • Oversee NHBC/Building Control applications, roads and sewer adoptions, and sign-offs


What We’re Looking For:

  • Background in residential development, either with a housebuilder, main contractor, or consultancy
  • Strong knowledge of Building Regs, design standards, planning policy, and technical compliance
  • Relevant qualifications in Architecture, Civil Engineering, or Construction (Degree/HNC/HND)
  • Practical site-based experience and the ability to solve problems with buildability in mind
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and coordination skills
  • Comfortable managing multiple stakeholders and working under pressure
