INTERNAL VACANCY

This vacancy is open to employees of the University of Nottingham only.

We are seeking a friendly, enthusiastic, and proactive individual to join our School of Medicine Core Technical Services Community. This role will be based within the School of Medicine Technical Team at the Royal Derby Hospital site, Derby. A highly skilled and dynamic group supporting multiple buildings performing multi-disciplinary teaching and research.

The purpose of this role will be to deliver timely and high-quality support for the School of Medicine teaching facilities under limited supervision. You will actively take part in laboratory-based teaching activities as well as providing general support to laboratory facilities to ensure the safe and effective operation of research, teaching, and laboratory activities. You will provide teaching support by allocating resources and offering technical assistance and training in the use of equipment and techniques to staff and students ensuring learning objectives are met. Additionally, you will collaborate closely with senior colleagues to assist in the development and improvement of laboratory techniques and processes, applying your technical knowledge and skills.

The post is offered on a full time, fixed term contract until 9 February 2026 (covering maternity leave). Hours of work are full-time (36.25 hours per week); however, applications are also welcome from candidates wishing to work part-time (minimum 29 hours per week).
