Telematics Product Manager

About The Role

Motability Operations is the UK’s largest leasing company, supporting over 860,000 customers with worry-free mobility solutions. Insurance is a major part of the Motability Scheme lease costs, and the insurance proposition supports our customers whilst being both risk and cost conscious. To ensure we deliver on our Insurance strategy, we are expanding our Insurance Solutions product team and are seeking a skilled, experienced Product Manager.

Purpose of the Role

To lead the development and evolution of the Drive Smart telematics product within Motability Operations’ Insurance Solutions team. The role focuses on delivering positive customer outcomes while reducing insurance costs through data-driven insights and behavioural change.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and refine the telematics roadmap post go-live.
• Use telemetry data and driving behaviour scores to reduce claims frequency and severity.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure strategic alignment and effective delivery.
• Monitor product performance using data and analytics, driving continuous improvement.
• Balance customer-centricity with commercial and risk considerations.
• Support the Operations and Proposition Manager in executing the insurance strategy.
• Champion agile methodologies and foster a culture of collaboration and pragmatism.

• Have in-depth knowledge of motor insurance or how the Motability Scheme insurance proposition works
• You will be motivated to achieve excellent outcomes in all you do
• You will monitor and evaluate product performance, leveraging data and analytics to inform continuous improvement
• Be flexible and adaptable, with strong agile ways of working experience
• Technical experience in projects or product delivery and implementation
• Excellent analytical skills – with proficiency in the use of analytic tools to make data and insight driven decisions to prioritise effectively
• Outstanding communication and presentation skills and able to articulate goals, priorities and requirements clearly and in compelling manner
• Be a good role model for the purpose and values of Motability Operations
• Foster a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement – be understanding of other opinions and demonstrate pragmatism in your approach

Minimum criteria

You’ll Need All Of These

• Proven experience in product management within motor insurance or related sectors.
• Strong understanding of agile practices and cross-functional delivery.
• Experience of telematics to reduce risk and claims frequency and of telematics products
• Excellent analytical skills with proficiency in data tools.
• Effective stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Experience with technical product delivery, especially involving telematics or insurance technologies.

Desirable

• Familiarity with the Motability Scheme or similar customer-focused organisations.
• Knowledge of telematics, repair industry, or external stakeholder engagement.
• Line management experience or potential to develop into a leadership role.
