We are looking for a qualified and experienced Temporary Works Co-ordinator (TWC) to oversee all temporary works activities on a major civil engineering construction project. This includes planning, coordination, and implementation of temporary works for structures such as cofferdams, formwork, falsework, earthwork support, traffic management schemes, scaffolding, and other site-enabling works.
You will ensure full compliance with BS 5975, CDM 2015, and client-specific standards, acting as the central point of control for all temporary works operations on site.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the appointed TWC for the project in accordance with BS 5975.
- Maintain and regularly update the Temporary Works Register.
- Review and coordinate temporary works designs (e.g. trench support, access scaffolding, crane bases, propping systems).
- Ensure temporary works are designed by competent personnel and independently checked where required.
- Ensure site teams implement temporary works in accordance with approved designs and safe systems of work.
- Issue permits (e.g. Permit to Load, Permit to Strike) following inspections and sign-off.
- Interface with Temporary Works Designers (TWDs), consultants, subcontractors, and the construction team.
- Chair temporary works coordination meetings and ensure all stakeholders are informed and aligned.
- Provide briefings, toolbox talks, and guidance on temporary works procedures and risk control measures.
- Monitor compliance and lead incident investigations related to temporary works.
Qualifications & Experience
- HNC/HND or Degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
- CITB-accredited Temporary Works Co-ordinator (TWCTC) course certification (mandatory).
- Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in temporary works management in civil engineering.
- Demonstrable knowledge of:
- Deep excavations and trench support
- Cofferdams and earthworks
- Temporary bridges and haul roads
- Formwork, falsework, and propping
- Reinforcement Stability
- CSCS Card – Manager or Professionally Qualified Person (PQP).
- SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme) is highly desirable.
- Familiar with CDM 2015, temporary works procedures, and design risk management.

- Knowledgeable of complex reinforcement and formwork designs
Project Environment
- Site-based role on an active construction site
- Working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- PPE and safety briefings required at all times.
- Travel between satellite sites may be required.
