Due to our continued growth, we are now recruiting for a Test Support Engineer - Chassis to be based at our customer's office in Gaydon, The UK.
Role Summary:
The Chassis & Motion Control Systems Test Support Engineer is responsible for supporting the project programme through vehicle preparation, maintenance and logistics according to the programme test plan. Secondary support will be required for vehicle test activities, including instrumentation, data logging and analysis.
Area of Responsibility:
· As a key member of the wider Motion Controls Group reporting to the Test Team Leader, lead the enablement of test activities through vehicle preparation & logistics across multiple projects.
· Liaise with relevant departments and teams to ensure availability of mature components, software and other critical items for keeping vehicles representative of design intent.
· Take responsibility for and manage the execution of vehicle instrumentation, maintenance and rework plans, escalation of issues & roadblocks and identifying help required.
· Lead the booking and management of vehicle and materials shipping.
· Support test activity within the UK and abroad, acting as the interface with the test facility workshop.
· Schedule and drive vehicles as and when required to ensure suitability for testing activities.
· Undertake any other work as directed by their line manager in connection with their job as may be requested from time to time (such as Build Support and issues resolution)
Knowledge / Experience:
Essential:
· Self-starter, proactive with good initiative and a delivery focused mindset
· Good practical knowledge of technical preparation and maintenance of road vehicles
· Willing to engage in a “hands-on” manner to get the job done
· Strong communicator and good networker with excellent organisational skill
· Able to work unsupervised from a clear set of instructions / deadlines.
· Knowledge of MS Office Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project)
· Automotive or Mechanical Engineering Degree.
· Full UK driving license.
Desirable:
· Vector Toolsets – CANape / CANalyzer
· Understanding of automotive electronic networking, diagnostics and fault handling techniques.
· Component and system level issue investigations including appropriate problem solving and reporting tools (Six Sigma, 5D, Is / Is Not, Fault Tree etc)
· Qualified driver 3PG/2OR
· Basic understanding of Vehicle Dynamics and Automotive Motion Control Systems
· Familiarity with international vehicle and materials shipping (carnets etc)
