Job Description Summary
The Technician will work as part of the Global Supply Chain Organisation. The Technician’s main responsibility will be the assembly, test, fault diagnosis and repair of Dissolved Gas Analysis instruments and subassemblies. The Technician will work in a flow environment based on Lean principles and will be required to cross-train facilitating flexible work practices.
Job Description
The successful candidate will be responsible for….
- Assembly and test of Dissolved Gas Analysis (DGA) instruments and subassemblies.
- Using test equipment and computer software to monitor, diagnose and repair equipment under test.
- Assemble, install, and test comms modules in DGA instruments.
- Train colleagues on assembly and test processes.
- Coordination between assembly / test / shipping team to sequence and prioritise daily customer requirement. Plan and schedule production build sequence.
- Working from procedures and specifications and associated documentation
- Liaising with key stakeholders; internal departments, Team leaders, Engineering, and other depts. within the factory.
- Achieving production and quality targets.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Hold a minimum of a HNC or equivalent qualification in electrical / electronic / telecommunication engineering
- Experience in the configuration and test of physical layer communications (e.g. RS232, RS485, Ethernet, GSM/GPRS, Fibre COMMs, WIFI).
- Experience with a broad range of Protocols and communication methods (e.g. MODBUS, TCP, DNP3, IEC61850, PROFIBUS, PROFINET, P2P, VPNs, MMS, MQTT).
- Ability to use test equipment and computer software to monitor, diagnose and repair equipment under test.
- Ability to fault find, test and repair PCB assemblies and understand and interpret circuit diagrams.
- Ability to read, understand and work from engineering drawings.
- Calibration of reference and test equipment.
- Experience of cabling and wiring assembly, board soldering, crimping techniques.
- Problem solving skills, showing initiative and creative thinking
- Computer literate, with a sound knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Good communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with customers and colleagues.
- Flexibility to move between work areas as required and to work flexible hours as demand requires
