Job Overview
The post holder will support existing health care staff in delivering a safe and efficient service in a caring environment which supports professional and service development. The post holder will be expected to ensure that each patient received into the reception area undergoes all relevant checks prior to being transferred into the operating theatre.
To control the dispatch of each patient to the correct operating theatre, ensuring all relevant information is communicated to the practitioner receiving handover of care.
Main duties of the job
Receive patients from the ward nurse/pilot nurse into reception and demonstrate a clear understanding of the information received.
Ensure patient’s documentation supports safeguards and immediately bringing any discrepancies or concerns to the attention of the practitioner in charge of the relevant theatre.
Ensure patient’s safety at all times during their stay in reception. Ensure that all information is passed over to and understood by the receiving practitioner.
To accurately input information onto the computerised Theatre Information Systems.
Manage the operating list file with the theatre receptionist so that all lists are current and accurate and all relevant areas have received copies.
General observation within the reception area regarding stock control, general tidiness and cleanliness.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
