Beavis Morgan is offering an excellent opportunity for an ambitious individual to begin their career in finance as a Trainee Bookkeeper. This is an entry-level role within our Personal Tax department, designed for someone eager to develop their skills while working in a supportive, professional environment.
You will work closely with our finance team, supporting a range of bookkeeping and accounting activities, and gaining valuable exposure to VAT processes and client work. Alongside on-the-job training, you will receive full support towards achieving your VAT qualification.
What You’ll Do:
- Process purchase invoices for clients.
- Analyse and reconcile bank statements.
- Assist with preparation of VAT returns for review.
- Raise sales invoices for clients.
- Record all financial transactions (sales, purchases, receipts, payments) accurately in the accounting system.
- Ensure entries are timely, categorised correctly, and compliant with accounting standards.
- Identify and resolve discrepancies between records and bank statements.
- Assist with accounts payable processing, ensuring proper documentation and tracking payments.
- Support preparation of basic financial reports (income statements, balance sheets, cash flow statements).
- Organise and maintain financial documents in both digital and physical formats.
- Participate in training, applying new knowledge under supervision, and gradually taking on more responsibilities.
What We’re Looking For:
- A minimum of A-Levels (grades A*–C) or equivalent.
- GCSEs at grade C (or 4) and above in Maths and English.
- Some previous office experience (finance exposure desirable but not essential).
- Ideally, prior exposure to personal tax or VAT and a clear interest in developing in this field.
- Strong attention to detail, organisational skills, and willingness to learn.
