Description
Trainee Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist – 4-Year Fixed Term Post (Swindon, BSW CAMHS)

Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust is pleased to offer a 4-year fixed-term post for a Trainee Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist, based in our Swindon CAMHS team within the BSW (Bath and North East Somerset, Swindon and Wiltshire) area. The role begins in September 2025 and is fully funded by NHS England.

You’ll be based in clinic four days a week, gaining hands-on experience within a supportive multidisciplinary team, while one day a week will be dedicated to attending your ACP-accredited training course. The funding covers your salary, training fees, and makes a substantial contribution toward personal analysis and travel costs.

You’ll need to have completed, or be close to completing, an ACP-recognised pre-clinical course and have secured a place on the full clinical training starting in September 2025. This is a valuable opportunity to train within a well-established NHS service while progressing toward qualification as a Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist.

The role is to undertake a range of clinical work under supervision whilst undertaking a training at an ACP registered training school. The post holder will be expected to offer advice, consultancy and support to colleagues within the CAMHS team and wider service.

You will be joining a large group of child psychotherapists across Oxford Health who meet regularly for CPD and to discuss our work.

  • To be responsible and accountable for the assessment, treatment and discharge of clients whose problems are managed by child psychotherapy based standard care plans.
  • To provide specialist child psychotherapeutic advice, guidance and consultation to other professionals contributing directly to clients’ formulation, diagnosis and treatment plan.
  • To utilise theory, evidence-based literature and research to support evidence-based practice in individual work and work with other team members.
