We are excited to offer an opportunity to join our team, as a trainee ENP. If you are an experienced ED nurse with an interest in the management injuries, this is an excellent opportunity. The successful applicant will be fully supported to train as an ENP and once qualified consolidate their practice as a full time member of our ENP team.
The role of the trainee ENP is to work under supervision with our ENP team across our 3 sites, to become an independent practitioner. You will be expected to see/ diagnose/ treat and then discharge/ refer patients as appropriate. You will see a wide range of patients from the age of 1 years upwards , your time will be spent between our 2 emergency departments that also have separate children's ED's and our UTC.
As a trainee in the ENP team, you will be working in in collaboration with nursing, medical and allied health professionals to assess individual patient needs, determine differential diagnosis and initiate appropriate holistic evidence based treatment and care including highly specialist advise. In accordance with Departmental ENP guidelines
Main duties
- Clinical Responsibilities
- To be trained as clinical expert within the remit of an ENP.
- To work under the supervision of a designated practitioner and be developed into an independent practitioner who can assess, diagnose, treat and discharge or refer patients.
- Ensure the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of evidence based, individualised patient care.
- Maintain and update own clinical expertise and contribute as role model to ensure the delivery of care is at highest possible level to meet patient care.
- Have responsibility for the correct administration of medicines according to Trust policy
- Monitor patients' progress, work towards safe and timely discharge and ensure barriers to discharge are identified, escalated and acted on appropriately.
- Deal with concerns raised by patients and visitors in a proactive manner and take remedial action as necessary.
- Act as the patients advocate for patients attending including safeguarding/ health visitor referral.
- To maintain a very high quality of care for all patients attending Mid Yorkshire Teaching Trust.
- To act as a role model within the Trust.
- To ensure patient records and clinical documentation are maintained in line with the NMC standards and Trust's policy using the current patient electronic record.

Essential
- Willingness to undertake and successfully complete an agreed training course & clinical practice
- Considerable experience in an emergency or urgent care setting with exposure to a wide compliment of patients with urgent care needs
- Minimum band 6 experience

- Teaching and assessing qualification
