Description of the Business Line or Department
The Global Markets function of Societe Generale is a trusted partner to its clients (Corporates, Financial Institutions, and Asset Managers) in market activities, offering a cross-expertise in Research, Investment and Risk Solutions, Execution and Prime Services.
The trainee will be part of the Operational Risk Management department in London that identifies, measures and controls the Global Market’s non-financial risks (incl. regulatory, operational and conduct risks) and provides necessary support to manage and prevent their non-financial risks as first line of defense (LOD1).
The candidate will join the London-based Sales Governance & Operational Risk Management team dedicated to the Sales business line of Global Markets.
Summary Of The Key Purposes Of The Role
The trainee will be supporting the Global Anti-Bribery & Corruption (ABC) Manager across ABC risk pillars (e.g. Gifts, Events & Meals, Financial Service Providers, Non-Financial Suppliers, Sponsorship & Corporate Philanthropy) as well as the UK Regulatory Supervisor responsible for a certain portfolio of regulations (e.g. UK cross border governance post Brexit, CASS regulation) who as LOD1, manages and oversees the regulatory risk associated with MARK’s activities on these regulatory subjects.
Summary Of Responsibilities - Participate in the First line of defence control framework, including the design, improvement and execution of the control framework, and reviewing and remediation of the control framework followed by the team
- Support in Management Information and Reporting to senior management, governance committees, auditors and regulators on matters relating to the effectiveness of the first line of defence control framework and oversight mechanisms followed by the team, supported by appropriate quantitative and qualitative data and metrics
- Fully support the team on identified priority topics and ad-hoc tasks, including conducting analyses and assisting answering requests from senior management, 2nd & 3rd line of defence or regulators on non-financial risks followed by the team
- Liaise with front offices teams and with central stakeholders e.g. from Compliance, Legal and Risk to handle non-financial risk management topics within Global Markets
- Assistance and follow up on IT developments in relation to projects and to the first line of defence control framework to facilitate automation and process enhancements
- Participate in the First line of defence control framework, including the design, improvement and execution of the control framework, and reviewing and remediation of the control framework followed by the team
